Our approach
Our work is neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-led and creative. We recognise that people communicate, learn and experience the world in different ways.
We do not believe that one approach works for everyone. Instead, we work collaboratively with the individual and the professionals around them to understand their needs, strengths, interests and preferred ways of communicating.
Our team brings professional training alongside lived experience, helping us create spaces where people can be themselves without having to fit into a traditional model of support.
Working with ID Derby
We can work with professionals to consider whether our provision is appropriate and what type of support may be most helpful.
Where appropriate, we can discuss:
- The individual's needs and strengths
- Desired outcomes
- Frequency and length of sessions
- One-to-one or group provision
- School or community-based support
- Arts therapy or creative wellbeing
- Alternative Provision pathways

Why our work matters
Our presence enables greater inclusion across Derby’s diverse communities. By actively working within education, care, and community settings, we help remove barriers that can prevent people from accessing support, opportunity, and creative engagement.
We exist to strengthen inclusion where it is needed most—bringing people together, amplifying voices that are often underrepresented, and supporting communities to feel connected, valued, and empowered. Through our work, we contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
