Therapy, Wellbeing & Creative Groups

We offer one-to-one Arts Therapy sessions tailored to individual needs. Therapy begins with an initial assessment and typically lasts up to 12 sessions, though this can be adapted to meet each client’s needs. Our therapeutic team includes qualified Art, Music, Drama, and Dance Movement Therapists, alongside creative wellbeing practitioners, trainers, and supervised student therapists on professional placements.

We also run Arts Therapy groups throughout the year. These groups follow a rolling programme and require an assessment to ensure the group is the right fit for each individual. As therapeutic groups, they are not suitable for drop-in attendance. Start dates are provided following application and assessment.

In addition, we offer 12-week wellbeing and creative wellbeing groups that provide inclusive, supportive spaces for connection, creativity, and emotional wellbeing. Where appropriate, these sessions are available on a drop-in basis.

We aim to keep our services as accessible as possible. Costs for therapy and wellbeing support can be discussed during assessment, and reduced-cost or subsidised spaces may be available through a means-tested process, depending on individual circumstances and funding availability.

Art Therapy Group for Neurodivergent Adults

Our Art Therapy Open Studio is a relaxed, welcoming creative space for adults who identify as neurodivergent and may be experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, overwhelm or simply looking for a space to reconnect with themselves through creativity.

There is no pressure to create “good art” and no artistic experience is needed. The studio offers an opportunity to explore, experiment and express yourself through art, at your own pace, alongside others.

We welcome self-referrals and professional referrals. Whether you are looking for therapeutic support, creative connection or simply a safe place to be yourself, you are welcome at ID Derby.

Inclusive Wellbeing warm space

Our Wellbeing Warm Space is a free weekly drop-in at ID Derby, created as a place where you can simply be yourself.

It’s warm, friendly, welcoming and relaxed. Come in, grab a cuppa, enjoy some free light refreshments or lunch, have a chat, meet people, get creative or simply spend some time somewhere that feels good to be.

There’s no pressure to stay for the whole session and no expectation to join in. Pop in for five minutes or stay for the whole morning. Join an activity, have a conversation, sit quietly or simply see what’s happening.

We believe community shouldn’t be something you have to fit into. You don’t need to explain yourself, have a diagnosis, be feeling a certain way or know anyone before you come.

Our space is inclusive, creative and judgement-free — a place to connect, breathe, laugh, make something, talk about nothing or talk about everything.

This LGBTQ+ inclusive Dramatherapy group

Step into a creative, supportive space where your story matters. This LGBTQ+ inclusive dramatherapy group invites you to explore identity, self-expression, and personal growth through the rich landscapes of folklore, myth, and fairytale.

Using gentle, affirming therapeutic approaches, we’ll draw on storytelling, role play, and imagination to connect with different parts of ourselves—past, present, and possible. Myths and fairytales offer powerful mirrors: they help us reframe challenges, reclaim narratives, and envision new ways of being.

This is a space where all identities, experiences, and journeys are welcomed and respected. You don’t need any acting experience—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Group Art Therapy for children

Our Children’s Art Therapy Group offers a safe, creative and supportive space where children can explore their feelings, build confidence, connect with others and develop a stronger sense of self.

Through art and therapeutic approaches, children are supported to express things that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. There is no need to be “good at art”  the focus is on the child, their experiences and their own way of communicating.

The group runs Thursday evenings, 5:00–6:30pm, at our Creative Wellbeing Centre in Derby. We welcome family and professional referrals.

The group is limited to 6 children and runs as a 12-week, term-time programme at £10 per session. An initial assessment meeting is arranged to make sure the group is right for the child.
