Alternative Provision: Referral Pathway
What is Alternative Provision?
Alternative Provision is education and support designed for children and young people who may not be able to access mainstream education full-time. This can include pupils experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges, those at risk of exclusion, or young people who need a more personalised and supportive learning environment.
At ID Derby CIC, our Therapeutic Arts programmes provide a safe, inclusive, and creative space where participants can build confidence, develop emotional wellbeing, and re-engage with learning through creative expression and therapeutic support.t iD Derby CIC, we are committed to ensuring that every child and young person can access the right support through a clear and inclusive referral process.
If a child is currently on a school roll, referrals should be made through Junction 16. If a child is not currently on a school roll, referrals should be made through Derby City Council.
Our team works closely with families, schools, and partner organisations to ensure that each individual is guided towards the most appropriate support pathway. Through our Therapeutic Arts programmes, and Arts Therapy we provide safe, welcoming, and creative spaces where participants can process experiences, build confidence, and re-connect with their creative potential.

Imagine the thrill of creating something with your own hands, pouring your emotions into a piece of art or a handcrafted item! Research supports this profound truth: engaging in these creative activities not only alleviates stress but significantly enhances our sense of joy and positivity.
